Welcome to Minomech!
We're delighted that you stopped
by, please take a moment to find out more about us and the
exciting new things we bring to the world of Assistive Technology:
Our aim is to provide both the products and the knowledge that will
help people with special needs to participate in, and enjoy the modern
computing and communication revolution.
So many products today are designed presuming a user's ability to do
things like push buttons, connect plugs, read text, or even speak out
loud. Such simple assumptions end up cutting many people off from the
use of devices and technology that the rest of us take for granted such
as telephones, computers and the Internet.
We believe that the most efficient route to overcome these design
limitations is through "keeping it simple" by using a combination of
existing products and technology, and sometimes adding a simple
invention or two. Most of the time just not knowing
what is possible is our greatest limitation. At Minomech we are
determined to gather and share the educational and technical resources
that are often essential but hard to find. We want to do the work to
come up with reliable solutions, and to test the product combinations
so that you don't have to re-invent the wheel for every new piece of
technology you want to use or that you want to provide for a client.
We have an ambitious slate of products and downloadable resources to be
introduced here on the web in the coming months. We want this site to
be useful to you whether or not you buy our products.
In the Products section we have several items to help extend access and
independence to people with special needs, particularly related to
wheelchair use, but useful for many others as well.
The Resource section of the site will be an educational resource and a
forum for solutions, ours and yours, to high-tech accessibility issues.
We believe that by providing such a forum, where people can pool their
resource and learn from each other, we all benefit. It is our goal to
become your resource for solving the tough problems in providing
computer and communication equipment to individuals with special needs.
As we get started our product focus is on mobility--"getting out there"
with the power of current computers and communication equipment.
Please keep watching this site for new products, technical tips and
other resources. Feel free to send us any suggestions you may have
regarding directions to go or problems you would like to see resolved
and we will work hard to provide you with a growing and dynamic
resource for your assistive technology needs.
At
your service,
Kirk Siqveland
